1. Let Us Know!

Notify us if you plan on traveling. If you forget to do so, you may have your transactions declined. Please reach out to us a few days in advance so we can be sure that you are all set to use your cards while on vacation!

2. Lock Up Your Valuables!

While you are on vacation, it is important to protect any valuables that you are leaving behind at home. We offer safe deposit boxes in three different sizes to help keep them safe while you’re away! Don’t be shy to use the hotel safe either. Lock up your passport, backup credit cards, financial information, extra cash, and camera when you aren’t using them.

3. Research The Exchange Rate!

Budgeting for vacation is one of the most important steps. If you plan on traveling outside the United States for vacation, make sure to look up the exchange rate of dollars to the foreign currency. This will help you get a better idea of how much your budget covers!

4. Lighten Up Your Wallet!

Only pack the credit/debit cards and cash you plan on using on the trip. Leave your social security cards, membership/rewards cards, and checkbooks at home. However, you may consider bringing a backup credit card just in case the one you plan on using gets lost or stolen.

5. Don’t Forget to Pay Your Bills!

It’s easy to forget about your finances while you are on vacation. However, make sure to pay your bills in advance before you leave or set up automatic payments that will go through while you are away.

6. Don’t Announce Your Trip on Social Media!

Although it may be tempting to share your excitement with your friends on social media, you are letting the world know that you will be away from your home for an extended period of time. Thieves may see this as an opportunity to break in you while you are away. Wait until you are back to post your photos and memories! You may also consider setting a home alarm, setting timers on your lights, and hiring a house-sitter.

7. Hold Your Mail!

Don’t forget to let the Post Office know that you are traveling as well! They will hold your mail so it is not piling up at your house. That way you do not have to worry about any important documents, information, or packages that are being delivered while you are away. Likewise, a pile of newspapers at your house is often an invitation for thieves!

8. Review Your Purchases!

When you return from your trip, review your debit/credit card purchases and ATM withdrawals! If you don’t recognize any of the purchases, notify us immediately.
